Ms. Waggoner's Mini-Autobiography:
Hello, students and parents/guardians! Let me tell you a little bit about myself! I was born and raised in Bristol, Tennessee. I graduated from Virginia Intermont College, a private, Liberal Arts institution in Bristol, Virginia. There I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature, with a license to teach grades 6-12. With the support of family and encouragement from great and involved professors, I was able to make the Four-Year Dean's List and graduated Summa Cum Laude (the highest collegiate academic honor for GPA). It is because of my home of educational support that I was able to achieve this goal and have most of college paid for on a scholarship! For my first two years of teaching here in Minnesota, I taught at Harvest Christian School in Sandstone. I assisted senior-high students in developing essay format and citation, as well as voice and style, and I also taught 2nd and 3rd grade reading fluency.
On a more personal, rather than academic/professional level, I am passionate about the written arts. Learners must obtain MLA formatting and writing skills, as well as advanced reading strategies, to succeed at college. I have entered a field where I love literature, and therefore am happy to be able to prepare young students for future college and career success through exposure to classic American, British, and Ancient literature. I will ensure through modeling HOW to formally write, that students will obtain the essential skills needed to excel in college and career. The better you know how to convey your ideas, the more people are willing to listen and take you seriously! We can do this! I'm here to help you through the whole process.
I am looking forward to a great year with you, if you are students reading! Parents and guardians, thank you for the honor of teaching your child. We, as educators at Pine City High School, are committed to creating worldly, technologically-versed, well-read, communicative, and respectful citizens who will succeed in the workforce. As Nelson Mandela says, "Education is the greatest weapon you can use to change the world!"
